Don't close the Wineskin window yet we'll use it later. The wrapper version (shown near the bottom of the window above "Install Software") should now be 2.6.2 or higher.

Some of these steps initially made my game crash or stuck in an update loop.
I highly recommend you back up the entire osu! folder. Osu! folder can be found by going to Show package contents > drive_c > osu! Wineskin can be found right clicking the osu! icon and clicking "Show package contents". This is assuming you are using the Wineskin wrapper to run osu! on OSX. Over the course of playing osu! on OSX I've experienced multiple issues and found ways to fix them.
WineBottler allows users to bottle Windows applications as Mac apps. WineBottler allows standalone (i.e., not requiring wine to be installed) applications to What's New in WineBottler. However, WineBottler 'wraps' or 'bottles' the separate prefixes in an application bundle. In other words, WineBottler is a tool similar to codeweavers' Crossover, where separate prefixes are created per app.

Provide the.exe file used to install the application and you can install it as an.app using the options here. If you choose to convert it to an OS X application bundle, you will be taken to the Advanced screen in WineBottler. WineBottler allows you to quickly execute the.exe directly, if you like. You can also choose to install the application in a Mac.app file created by WineBottler.

To run another application that doesn’t appear in the WineBottler list, you can simply download it, then right-click or Ctrl-click its.exe file to select Open With > Wine. You may see a message that mentions a 'Mac driver' and an 'X11 driver'.Ĭlick an application and it will launch in a window, receiving its own icon on your dock. Then try running this step again, and Homebrew will redownload the file - hopefully correctly! When Homebrew is finished installing Wine, it will stop displaying messages and wait for you to type in a new command.
If you get an error message at this step that indicates that Homebrew has accidentally downloaded a file that is empty or incorrect, you can delete Homebrew's downloaded files by running brew cleanup.

If that's the case, it will have to compile the software for itself, which will still work, but it will take awhile. However, if your computer is in an unusual configuration, it may not be able to use the pre-compiled versions.
These offer more or less guaranteed compatibility with Windows software on a Mac. If you plan on testing out a lot of software or you use software that Wine doesn’t support well, you’ll have a much better time just running it in a virtual machine. Bear in mind that WineBottler is best if you have a single program or handful of programs that work well. If you can’t get an application working, you should perform a web search for its name and “wine” or “winebottler” for tips on what advanced functions you might need. However, that often isn’t necessary–just executing.exe files directly with Wine should generally work. Depending on the application, you may need various third-party libraries from the Winetricks list, DLL override options, or runtime arguments here to make it work.
